F.A.Q
On this page, you can find a series of FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS and their answers.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ORIGINAL CAMPAIGN?
We opted to try a campaign with a smaller player-base for better balancing, both from a moderation and mechanics standpoint! This campaign is now in its second iteration!
HOW MANY PLAYERS WILL THERE BE IN THE SECOND ITERATION?
We are aiming to have around 25-40 players in STOPPING TOMORROW!
WHAT PAW DID THE PAIN GO INTO FOR THE PREMISE?
Any paw of your choosing!
DO HUMANS LIVE OUTSIDE OF DOME CITIES?
Yes! While sparse, there are small and humble human settlements scattered about, whether they live in quaint suburbs, motels, or refurbished or built shacks. They do not usually thrive, but they do what they can to survive, and live simple lives.
CAN MY CHARACTER SEE OR SENSE SPIRITS?
Sure! That is entirely your choice. However, they will not be able to interact in any way. (ie. touch, speak, etc)
HOW DO SPIRITS LOOK/BEHAVE?
Most would describe them as faceless, warbling shadowy apparitions that are simply feline in shape and mostly transparent. Like firesmoke given a recognizable silhouette. They do not speak, or even interact with characters beyond simply existing around them, but can behave in varying ways depending on player interpretation - especially if a character is prone to seeing them in times of high emotion or stress - this can include anxious pacing, slouched in despair, arched in aggression, etc.
CAN MY CHARACTER HAVE SPIRITS ATTACHED/BOUND TO THEM?
In the most basic sense, yes. This can be more how a character perceives their sensitivity rather than complete truth, because the spirits that manifest are not likely to be the same ones consistently, even if they act similar - and it is nearly impossible to tell due to their lack of distinguishing features or behavior. A character is welcome to believe that the spirits they see are of those perhaps important to them in some way, whether or not it will be revealed to be the case later in campaign.
HOW MUCH MOBILITY/DEXTERITY DOES A CAT HAVE IN THEIR PAWS?
That is fully open to player interpretation and what they prefer for their specific and unique character and writing style! That being said, the world of ST is relatively open to higher flexibility within a cats front paws - allowing them to do things like craft baskets, embroider, open doors, cook, and perform medical tasks beyond the scope of a normal cat.
CAN CATS UNDERSTAND HUMAN WRITING AND/OR SPEECH? IF YES, HOW MUCH?
They can, and the depth of their understanding can be up to player interpretation. (ie. just recognizing the word as human, or understanding its actual meaning) However, their general knowledge of human language should be reasonably limited to 10-15 human words of player choosing.
CAN FELINE SETTLEMENTS HAVE THEIR OWN UNIQUE WRITING SYSTEMS AND/OR LANGUAGES?
Of course! Colonies, clowders, families and settlements are welcome to have their own variety of communication styles and languages (as long as they are not culturally insensitive), either kept private and close to the chest, or open to be taught to others a character meets during their time in the campaign.
CAN MY CHARACTER UTILIZE PAW SIGN AND/OR BODY LANGUAGE INSTEAD OF VERBAL SPEECH?
Sure! All methods of communication are welcome. Characters who may be verbal are also allowed to learn and utilize these methods of communication based on player want.
IS IT POSSIBLE FOR MY CHARACTER TO HAVE MET AN ARCHITECT? IF YES, CAN I MAKE AN ARCHITECT NPC?
While it is possible that your character was in a settlement brought back from the brink by Architect influence, and perhaps even got to meet them first-hand, which can be included in their backstory, they would not understand that this cat was an Architect, or even know their name or what direction they came from or returned to. So no possibility of a fleshed-out Architect NPC, unfortunately!
ARE HEALTH POINTS (HP) A CURRENT MECHANIC?
They are not! Currently, we do not measure Health Points (HP). Player Characters may take some extreme damage during the events written out in Checkpoints, but this can be interpreted by the Players for best experience; and unless the post requirement, misconduct, or Player leaves the campaign or opts to let their Character go for narrative reasons, your Character will not be in any danger of death, but it may impact their performance during actions.
IF MY CHARACTER IS BADLY HURT DURING A CHAPTER, DO THEY HAVE TO KEEP ANY SCARS?
No! You are free to have them fully heal at any point of the following Downtime, or keep as many scars as you'd like.
IF MY CHARACTER HAS LIMITED VISION OR BLINDNESS, HOW DO LINE OF SIGHT ABILITIES WORK?
Similar to seeing Player Characters! Line of Sight (LOS) mostly implies that a target/object/etc cannot be hidden, around a corner, or behind a wall or otherwise fully obstructed. Though your character must be facing the target as if they were seeing it, you can interpret freely how your character senses it (ie. hearing, smell, simply feeling the presence, vibrations, etc).
CAN I HAVE A CARTOONISH DESIGNED CHARACTER?
Your character must appear to be - at least semi-realistically - a feral feline. This includes defined features (aside from those missing due to injury or at birth) that are reasonably feral, domestic feline in appearance. Details can be found on the Character Creation page!
